Nick Donohoe is a five-start reviewed real estate agent in the Los Angeles Westside and San Fernando Valley.  He specializes in luxury residential real estate.

Background

Nick is from the Napa Valley, where, growing up, he learned about real estate development and vineyard management. He lived in the Carneros wine district, one of the world’s most famous wine appellations.  His parents were both teachers: his father was a college history professor, and his mother was a professor of mathematics. Most of his closest friends owned vineyards and wineries in Carneros.  Nick Donohoe spent many summers exploring Mexico, Greece, and Spain when his father taught abroad.

Education

Nick Donohoe attended Justin-Siena High School, a Lasallian Catholic day and boarding school. He studied economics, finance, and philosophy at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California.  Nick was interested in global macroeconomics and quantitative finance at Saint Mary’s, which led him to earn a Master of Science in Financial Analysis and Investment Management.

Nick has also earned the prestigious CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).  He enjoys reading economics literature and papers from the Austrian School, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, and Henry Hazlitt.

Early Career

Nick began his career as a hedge fund accountant for CITCO in the financial district of San Francisco. There he valued derivatives and exotic instruments for the Standard Pacific Capital hedge fund.  Afterward, he took on the portfolio manager role for the Bank of New York Mellon. Nick traded global equity and managed transitions for some of the world’s largest asset managers, like ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority), and large pension plans, like SWIB (State of Wisconsin Investment Board).

He started coding to develop solutions to client requests, first in Excel and then in Python.  Nick Donohoe became inspired by Barra Portfolio Manager, a risk management modeling software that institutional asset managers to model portfolio volatility.  He went on to create a full-stack SaaS application used by high-net-worth asset managers to bring the same quantitative framework to retail investors.

Some years later after overseeing the selling of several commercial and residential properties for his uncle’s estate, Nick decided to shift gears away from finance and into residential real estate.  “I wanted to provide a higher level of professionalism and expertise for residential buyers and sellers.  I was determined to offer my clients the same quality representation that I was providing my institutional clients.”

Family

Nick and Shawn Donohoe have been married for over 17 years. They have four beautiful children Blair 10, Royce 9, Bianca 6, and Axel 1.  Nick enjoys playing golf, tennis, and going on hikes with his Irish Setter, Bruno. When they need a little escape, the Donohoe family likes visiting their family ranch in Lompoc, just north of Santa Barbara, Rancho San Julian est. 1837.
